Frank Buck has led a life-long commitment to achieving excellence academically and occupationally. He has excelled in both endeavors. For over 20 years, at least 75% of his revenue from attorney fees has been a result of Frank’s contributions as lead counsel on other lawyers’ clients’ cases. Frank grew up in St.Mary Parish, Louisiana, which borders the famous Great Atchafalaya Swamp Basin. He was Junior Class Favorite and Junior Class Vice President. He was Senior Class President, Student Business Club president, Historian of Student Council, Senior Class Favorite, Friendliest, Wittiest and graduated from Patterson High School number 6 in his class in 1975.
UNITED STATES MERCHANT MARINE ACADEMY
Frank’s father worked in the maritime industry before the time Frank was born. Frank learned about the academy when he was 11 years old and set his sights to attend the academy and no other college or university received an application from him. After obtaining a mandatory Congressional nomination (from US Representative Dave Treen), he endured the academic and physical screening process administered by the academy. He received notice of his successful appointment on March 17, 1975, the birthday of his 19 year old daughter (born 22 years later).
Graduates of the Academy in 1979 participated in sea-going voyages half of their sophomore and junior years. Frank graduated with a B.S. Degree in Marine Transportation, a U.S. Coast Guard Third Mate’s License; all vessels any tonnage upon all oceans. He was also certified by several national organizations for various sea-going training, i.e. Radar; Cargo Storage, Stability and Trim, Sea-Going Meteorology, etc.
After graduation he spent three years fulfilling his Academy obligation to work in the maritime industry and did so as Captain and Tankerman aboard inland towboats pushing barges on inland waters between Florida and Brownsville, Tx.
LSU LAW SCHOOL
Frank graduated in 1985 from LSU Law School in the top 10 of his class. As a result of his academic success, he was inducted into the ORDER OF THE COIF – for high attainments in the study of law. He has been practicing as a Civil Trial Lawyer since taking his lawyer’s oath in October 1985.
Frank was blessed with two sons and a daughter, his youngest. First came his son Bryan Matthew Buck – June 1986, Austin Marshall Buck – September 1995; a 2013 Honors graduate from Jesuit High School; a college senior to graduate in 2017 from Tulane University with Honors with a dual major in Legal Studies in Business and Economics and a minor in Philosophy. He intends to work in the corporate world for one year then attend Law School. Emily Margaret Buck – March 1997, a 2015 Honors graduate from Urusline Academy and her Student Council President. She is a sophomore at Spring Hill College in Mobile, AL and majors in Communications and Journalism with interests in Philosophy and Psychology (2019 graduation).
No one has a crystal ball to know what cases will have to be resolved only through the trial process. Therefore, at the inception of being retained to handle any civil case, one must assume it WILL go to trial and work every case with that mindset from day one.
